Purpose and consent

We use your email address to confirm your subscription and, after confirmation, to send our security newsletter about websites, email and domains. We plan to send it once or twice a month. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Subscribing is voluntary and is not a requirement for using the checks.

Confirmation and evidence of consent

We store your email address, the consent wording shown to you and its version, and the times of your subscription request and confirmation. Confirmation uses a random link followed by a further confirmation on the website. Unconfirmed subscriptions and expired confirmation tokens become eligible for automatic deletion after no more than 48 hours. Deletion takes place during the next processing operation or a configured maintenance run.

Delivery and technical processing

We manage recipients on our server and send emails through our configured SMTP service. Hosting and email providers may process the connection data needed to operate the service and deliver messages. To operate the service and limit abuse, a value derived from the requesting IP address using a secret key is processed briefly; these rate-limit values expire within 24 hours and are removed during the next cleanup. Servers and email services may also keep technical logs according to their operating policies.

No open or click tracking

The newsletter feature adds no tracking pixels or personalised click-tracking links. Personal links for confirmation and unsubscribing serve those purposes only.

Withdrawal and deletion

You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in the newsletter or by contacting us at the email address above. You can also request an unsubscribe link on the newsletter page. After unsubscribing, your entry is deleted from the mailing list. This does not retrospectively remove previously delivered emails or any necessary technical logs. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.

Internal subscription notification

After you confirm your subscription, mol.ruhr receives an internal email with your email address and the confirmation time to help manage the mailing list. Confirmation and unsubscribe tokens are not included.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, such as the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia.
